Google I/O 2013: 900 million activations and 48,000 million apps installed

Google I/O 2013 have first announced a total of 900 million activation of Android worldwide and general, i.e., not limited to smartphones. Progress has been really impressive, especially when you consider that two years ago Google was talking about 100 million activation and just last year the company celebrated the 400 million activation.

On the other hand, the Google Play Store (Old Market) to dish served 48 billion downloads so far of his existence. The company mentioned on stage that 2.5 billion of these applications were just the past month. The user gains have been duplicated from the previous to the current year.

Next target: 65% of the world


During the presentation, Pichai showed a world map on the screen of the gigantic stage to indicate the countries where Android has only 10% penetration.

These are the emerging markets, the next great conquest of smartphones, and a cake of 4.500 million people that Google does not want to lose.

Finally have highlighted the level of profitability growth that Android has experienced, which is important for developers, and is that the ARPU is now 2.5 times higher than a year ago.
